The Cheaha Educational Opportunity Center is hosting a workshop for anyone needing assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The workshop will be at 5 p.m. Nov. 30 in Room 228 of Naylor Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus. The event is open to the public. Chick-Fil-A will be served.

“There’s serious money on the line,” said Dr. Cheryl Sington, director of the EOC. “Filing a FAFSA is the single most important thing you can do to get money for college. It’s the gateway to more than $150 billion in college grants, work-study funds and federal student loans as well as certain state-based aid. No one should turn down free money, and this workshop will get you on your way to claiming your part of the bag.”

The EOC is a federal TRIO program that provides opportunities for academic development, including academic tutoring; guidance on secondary school re-entry and entry to a general education development program; career workshops; and financial literacy seminars. It also aids in course selection, preparation for college entrance exams, completion of college admissions applications and applying for financial aid. It is funded with a $232,050 grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
