Cherokee County School District issued the following announcement on July 29.
The CCSD Back to School Gateway at https://bit.ly/CCSDb2s now is open! Whether your CCSD student is returning in-person or learning online, we need you to please complete the Gateway “first day forms” as soon as possible. The Gateway includes updating emergency contacts, confirming transportation plans, signing up for free and reduced price lunch, and much more. To use the Gateway, you will need your child’s Student ID (the code they use in the cafeteria and to log in to computers) and GTID (the longer code on your child’s report card); if you don’t have these, your child’s school can provide them to you.
The Bus Stop Look-Up online service at https://bit.ly/CCSDbusstop also is live today with updated route information; if you don’t see your route listed, please call your school’s front office for assistance. Beginning on Monday, Aug. 3, you will be able to track your child’s bus on its way to the bus stop in the morning and afternoon using the Versatrans My Stop app or website (https://bit.ly/MyStopCCSD).
The Meal Viewer system (https://bit.ly/CCSDmenu) is loaded with menus for our cafeterias’ first two weeks of service. If your child purchases meals, please be sure your K12 Payment Center account (https://k12paymentcenter.com/) has funds or send a check payable to the school on the first day. Applications for Free and Reduced Price meals are included in the Back to School Gateway (https://bit.ly/CCSDb2s); Digital Learning students have access to a to-go option (https://bit.ly/CCSDdltogo).
Questions about reopening safety plans? Please see our Reopening of School Plan at https://bit.ly/CCSDplan20 and FAQs at https://bit.ly/CCSDfaqs20, which are continuously being updated, with updates noted by date.
Questions about your child’s homeroom teacher, class schedule, meet-and-greet, school supplies, After School Program, Canvas pairing code, or any other class-specific or school-specific information? That information will be shared with you, if it has not already, by your child’s school and/or teacher. If you have questions about school specific information, please contact your child’s school or teacher.
Want to know what’s happening in our schools as we finish preparations? We’ve put together a video slideshow of photos of our staff hard at work this week and posted it online at https://bit.ly/CCSDb2s2020.
What will the first week of school be like? Car-rider lines are longer than usual during the first days of school and bus routes may run late, so please be prepared for a wait and please be patient. As noted in our reopening FAQs, parents will not be permitted to walk their children to their classrooms, but we will have staff ready to make sure every child finds their classroom for a great start to the school year. Our Digital Learning teachers will spend their first week ensuring students understand how to use the platform and the expectations for online learning, as well as starting initial lessons. Both in-person and Digital Learning teachers are very aware many students struggled to adapt to online learning in the spring, and that will be reflected in some review work the first month.
