Rainbow City, AL Gadsden-Etowah Habitat for Humanity will break ground on its 58th house on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 11:00:00 a.m. at 1504 Rose Street, East Gadsden, AL. The public is invited.
The house is the future home of Ebony Pace and her two children. The house is sponsored by The Simpson Estate Trust, Publix Charities, State Farm Insurance, and ARP (American Rescue Plan) grant support. The property was donated by Family Savings Credit Union.
Habitat homes are primarily built by volunteers coordinated through the local Habitat affiliate, along with the future homeowners, who are required to provide 300 hours of sweat-equity. With volunteer labor, the purchase price of the home is more affordable.
Habitat for Humanity serves residents of Etowah County who are living in sub-standard housing. Habitat raises the money needed to build the homes, and then provides a zero percent interest 20-year loan to homeowners.
“Ebony has been in the pipeline for a number of months and she has been working hard on her partnership, so this is the next big step as she moves closer to her dream of owning her own home for herself and her children”, said Suzanne Scharfenberg, Gadsden-Etowah Habitat for Humanity executive director.
