Kick off Mother’s Day weekend with an event that is perfect for the entire family when First Friday rolls into Downtown Gadsden on May 6. After a great season starter last month, once again Broad Street will be filled with classic cars, food vendors and live music.
Broad Street will be closed to traffic and First Friday gets started at 6 p.m., lasting until 9 p.m. Downtown retail shops, restaurants and entertainments will stay open late to welcome attendees. It’s the perfect time to shop for Mom or treat her to dinner out.
The live music lineup for the evening includes: New Delusions at 2nd and Broad; Gospel Truth at 3rd and Broad; The Laborers at 4th and Broad; Kings of Swing at 5th and Broad; and the Gadsden Line Dancers in the 600 block.
The Gadsden Museum of Art will be hosting Jenny Fine's Synchronized Swimmers LIVE and free to the public from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Their Student Art show will also be hosting a closing and awards reception.
"We have a stellar music lineup for everyone to enjoy,” said Kay Moore, DGI director. "And, of course, we’ll have plenty of classic and unique cars and trucks to check out, plus food vendors. It really is an event that provides something for all members of the family."
The guidelines for First Friday include no pets, no personal coolers or glass containers, no skateboards or roller blades and no advertising or fundraising.
