Gadsden selected as host for KCBS World Invitational Barbeque Competition

13

The Kansas City Barbeque Society has announced that its third annual KCBS World Invitational Barbeque Competition, presented by Smithfield, will be held at Gadsden’s Noccalula Falls Park and Campground on Nov. 11-13, 2022.

The competition brings together top champion pitmasters who have won previous competitions to contend for the title of “KCBS World Champion” over three full days of events.

The KCBS researched more than 20 locations that could meet their unique needs, and Noccalula Falls Park and Campground was selected based on the site’s outstanding facilities, experience handling barbeque competitions and by providing the best opportunity for participating KCBS members.

“I want to thank Janet Tarrance for all the hard work that she does,” said Gadsden Parks and Recreation Director Jen Weathington. “We were awarded this because of everything that she puts into Smoke on the Falls in April.”

“We are delighted to partner with KCBS to bring championship pitmasters to Gadsden,” Weathington said. “We’ve hosted large-scale KCBS regular season contests for 10 years and are excited to host the KCBS World Invitational.”

The event is expected to bring over 150 competitors from across the U.S. and more than 37 countries to the campground.

Hosting the KCBS World Invitational Barbeque Competition is the latest barbeque-related honor for the City of Gadsden.

Celebrity chef Michael Symon and a crew visited this year’s Smoke on the Falls competition, which will be featured on an upcoming show on The Food Network.

The Kansas City Barbeque Society is the world’s largest organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts and has more than 20,000 members worldwide.
