Snead State Community College is kicking off its 125th anniversary by inviting the community to a special event.
The College is hosting a Founders Day Festival and Pageant on Saturday, September 17, at the Boaz campus.
The first Founders Day Pageant is open to high school juniors and seniors as well as Snead State students. Prizes will be awarded to the winners and first runners-up in each division, including scholarships to Snead State. The registration deadline was extended to Wednesday, Sept. 14. The Pageant will begin at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and will be held in Fielder Auditorium, located in the Story Administration Building on the Boaz campus.
The Festival will begin at 2 p.m. Attendees can enjoy entertainment by the Snead State Fine Arts Department, Brandon Elder, Country Case and Nick Longshore. Food will be available through food trucks such as Hometown Bowls, Lena’s Rolling Kitchen, Gadsden Frios, and Firehouse Dogs.
Festival vendors will include the Snead State Alumni Association, Cookies and Crumbs, Counting Every Blessing, Eden Blooms Flower Company, GramLife LLC, and Scentsy. The family-friendly event will also include a Kids Corner with children’s activities and inflatables.
