The Gadsden Fire Department is accepting donations for its annual Toys from Santa program. The program helps children and families in Gadsden have a Merry Christmas through collection and distribution of donations.
“Our First Responders often experience families in their darkest times,” said Mayor Craig Ford. “That takes a toll on a person. That’s why this opportunity to help brighten Christmas morning for so many of Gadsden’s young citizens is so special. It not only makes a difference for that family, but it also makes a difference for our dedicated fire personnel too. That’s what I call a win-win.”
Individuals or businesses can donate new toys at all Gadsden Fire stations from now until December 16. Due to sanitary concerns, used toys are not accepted.
Those who wish to donate large quantities of new, unwrapped toys may schedule a pickup time by calling (256) 549-4566.
A fundraising roadblock also will be held in front of the Gadsden Mall on Black Friday, Nov. 25. Monetary donations, which are used to purchase new toys for distribution, can also be made at the Central Fire Station, 322 Walnut St., Gadsden.
