Gadsden State Community College is hosting several events scheduled for March to celebrate Women’s History Month. The first event will be at 2 p.m. March 1 at Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center.  Dr. Kathy Murphy, president of Gadsden State, will be the featured speaker.  The event will be livestreamed in the Learning Resource Center Media Room on the Valley Street Campus; in the Cheaha Lecture Hall on the Ayers Campus; and in Room 130 at Gadsden State Cherokee.  The event is free and open to the public. 
 
Gadsden State hosts student success workshop
 
Gadsden, Ala.--Gadsden State Community College is hosting a free student success event entitled “Spring into Health:  Whole Person Health Fair” from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 1 in the Allen Hall Lounge on the Wallace Drive Campus. Students will be able to visit with multiple vendors from various agencies and receive information concerning access to services provided as well as information related to all aspects of health care and well-being. Gadsden State Town Hall meeting March 2
 
Anniston, Ala.--Gadsden State Community College’s president is hosting a Town Hall meeting at 5:30 p.m. March 2 in the Cheaha Center Lecture Hall on the Ayers Campus in Anniston. Dr. Kathy Murphy will review the findings of the College’s economic impact report and receive feedback that will be used in the development of a new strategic plan.  It is open to the public.
 
Spring Semester 2023 registration ongoing at Gadsden State
 
Gadsden, Ala.—Registration at Gadsden State Community College for the mini 2 term of the spring semester is ongoing through March 6. Classes begin March 3. For registration instructions, visit www.gadsdenstate.edu/register. Gadsden State’s Cardinal Foundation accepting applications for scholarships
 
Gadsden, Ala. — The Cardinal Foundation will award $28,500 in scholarships to qualified Gadsden State Community College students for the 2023-24 academic year. Scholarships may be applied toward tuition, fees and books.  All scholarships will be determined by the Gadsden State Scholarship Committee and the Cardinal Foundation Scholarship Committee. Scholarship recipients must be in good standing with Gadsden State.  To apply for scholarships awarded through the Cardinal Foundation, go to gadsdenstate.edu/cardinalfoundation and click on the red Scholarship button. The deadline to apply is March 7.
 
Gadsden State Theatre presents “The Taming of the Shrew”
 
Gadsden, Ala. – The Gadsden State Theatre Department will present William Shakespeare’s "The Taming of the Shrew" at 7 p.m. March 9-11 at Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center in Gadsden.  Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors.  Tickets may be purchased online by visiting www.GadsdenState.edu/FineArts and clicking on Buy Tickets.  In addition to the Wallace Hall performances, free performances will be at 5 p.m. March 16 at the Ayers Campus in Anniston and March 18 at Noccalula Falls in Gadsden.  The Gadsden State Theatre Program offers half and full scholarships for qualified students. Gadsden State priority registration opens March 15 for summer, fall semester
 
Gadsden, Ala.--Priority online registration at Gadsden State Community College for both summer and fall semester begins at 8 a.m. March 15. Currently-enrolled students who have completed 24 semester hours at Gadsden State qualify for priority registration.  Regular registration for summer semester and current student registration for fall begins at 8 a.m. March 16.  New students are encouraged to register for Cardinal Commit June 20-23 for the chance to register early on June 26.

Gadsden State to host Preview Days March 13-16
 
Gadsden, Ala. – Prospective students of all ages are invited to attend one of four upcoming Spring Preview Days at Gadsden State Community College on the campus of their choice.  March 13 at Gadsden State Cherokee, March 14 at the Valley Street Campus, March 15 at the Ayers Campus and March 16 at the Wallace Drive Campus.  All Preview Days will be from 9 a.m. to noon.
 
At Preview Days, students can explore the campus to discover a variety of technical, health science and academic programs offered by Gadsden State; visit hands-on learning areas; discuss academic options with faculty; talk with current students about campus life and experience a college classroom. Students will also learn about admissions requirements, financial aid and scholarships. Prospective students interested in previewing multiple campuses must register for each campus separately.
 
Scholarships auditions for musicians, vocalists and actors
 
Gadsden, Ala. — The Gadsden State Fine Arts Department is holding auditions for three of its performance groups. Full- and half-scholarships will be awarded for members of the Show Band, A Cappella Choir and Theatre Program upon successful auditions. To be considered, those auditioning must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Alabama. Students do not have to be music or theatre majors to be considered for a scholarship. Scholarships begin for the fall semester.
 
The Gadsden State Show Band auditions will be March 14, 16, 28 and 30. To schedule an audition, contact Desmond Mitchell, band director, at 256.549.8394 or rmitchell@gadsdenstate.edu.  The Gadsden State Singers and A Cappella Choir is currently scheduling auditions for the 2023-24 groups. To schedule an audition, contact J.T. Harrell, choral director, at 256.549.8391 or jharrell@gadsdenstate.edu. The Gadsden State Theatre Department is currently holding auditions. Students do not have to major in theatre but they are required to enroll in a theatre course each semester. Gadsden State Graduation Fair 2023
 
Gadsden, Ala.--Gadsden State Community College is hosting Graduation Fair 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 21 in the Cheaha Center at the Ayers Campus and March 22 in the lobby of Allen Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus.  The fairs are designed to provide opportunities for freshmen and sophomores to explore graduation from Gadsden State.  At the fairs, students will be able to review their progress with an advisor, apply to graduate (if requirements have been met), receive assistance with beginning a job search and learn about the Alumni Association. Graduating students may also shop for graduation apparel and supplies from the campus bookstore. The fairs are hosted by the Gadsden State Advisement Resource Center and Student Support Services. ACT Prep Course at Gadsden State 
 
Gadsden, Ala. – Gadsden State Community College’s Continuing Education Program is offering ACT preparation classes covering four core subjects – English, reading, math and science from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. April 8. The class will meet in Room 206 at Naylor Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus. Registration is $99. Once a student registers, a confirmation email will be sent containing instructions and items needed for the class.
