Three businesses registered in cities in Cherokee County in week ending Dec. 31, 2022

There were three businesses that registered in cities within Cherokee County in the week ending Dec. 31, 2022, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is an increase over the week before, when no licenses were issued.

Centre registered the most businesses in Cherokee County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
